Multiple factors affect the academic performance of Mexican students, for example: the socioeconomic context, the educational institution and the emotional state. This encourages failure or temporary abandonment of studies. In the case of the English language, this research analyzed the causes that contribute to the failure of students of the Bachelor of Tourism at UAEMex, Toluca campus, in order to make contributions to the formulation of teaching strategies that contribute to improving their Academic Performance. The applied methodology is mixed. The results highlight two causes: the need to create learning strategies. engaging and interactive. that motivate the student and lead him to identify the professional or labor reality, and generate empathy and trust with teachers to avoid disinterest; and, on the other hand, the economic scarcity that forces them to look for income to maintain their studies. As conclusions, we observe that the R A is due to the lack of motivation to learn the language, and it is proposed to diversify the E-A strategies, adapting them to the needs of the students.
